December Edition & Contest Time!

Sat Dec 1, 2007, 8:18 AM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: Just the way I'm feeling - Feeder
  • Reading: Politics textbook
  • Playing: Civ III Conquests
  • Eating: Cake 8D
And now, for something entirely different...

Ladies and Gentlemen - fellow community members. It gives me great pleasure to unveil the December featured deviations for my gallery. Once again, I have scurried about deviantART from place to place to pin down 5 pieces of work that I believe deserve extra credit.

And the, in Soviet Russia, contest has you!

Art doesn't need to be excessively complex for it to draw my eye. Here, a piece by =mydes-ael of Axel and Demyx from Kingdom Hearts II. I really enjoy just looking at this piece, because it is simple yet still very attractive. The entire composition of the piece is wonderful to me, and conveys a wonderful sense of cosiness and warmth. The closeness of the two characters has been carefully and sensitively portrayed as well.

The return of sexy? Most definitely. This great picture by =Majime of her fursona - also called Majime - is a firm favourite of mine. I love grey/blue colour schemes, but this one is really nice and pleasing to the eye. The flirtatious pose and assured grin are more plus points, and the whole overall quality of work is of a very high standard. Well worth a visit.

A man greater than I once said that "beauty without expression tires." Here we see a lovely balance of the two - beauty that has been expressed wonderfully. Feminine men aren't everyone's cup of tea - but =Horus-Goddess is very good at converting the masses to them. This picture, of her character Menetnashte, features several of my favourite points in a piece of art - extremely good costume design, a gaze that holds that of the viewer and an extremely attractive subject.

Drawing art with your mouse is a pig - if you don't believe me, then go and try. Here, however, we have an example of a piece that should give hope to those of you who try. *nayruasukei has completed a wonderfully alluring and in-character depiction of =temporary-glitch's nobody Nurexla. As befitting the character, the piece has a wonderful sense of the oriental and exotic about it, and yet again features a piercing and alluring gaze of the subject that holds ones' eyes.

Creativity is a feature I always try and reward - and here is a shining example of such creativity. The Pendeogan race, created by *Jubilations, is a brilliant concept and has been well-thought-through. The possibilities for additional creativity from this basis are wide and exciting. The manner of delivery of the information is brilliant as well, and engages the viewer/user very well.

AND NOW!

THE CHRISTMAS CONTEST.

Ladies and gentlemen! Those who I watch and those who watch me! And their friends and so on and so forth!

I am looking for festive art. Festive art is art that celebrates Christmas and conveys the festive feeling. It does not have to be overtly religious, but it must be Christmas-y. Entries can be forwarded that have already been submitted to dA - but only within the last 3 months. Otherwise, I want them to be new and fresh.

Themes? The only requirement - aside from being festive - is that any art must feature original characters -only-. Sadly, no fanart will be accepted. It's time to give some original characters some loving, people.

What if you're a writer and not an artist? Well - I want you to write a Christmas-y story featuring your original characters!

Simple as that. All art must be in by Midnight 23rd December, so I can post the winners on Christmas Day! If you want to submit, please upload your picture to dA and then note me with a link/thumbnail. Entitle the note "CONTEST" so it'll be easy for me to sort through them.

Prizes? Do you think I'd leave you without them? =P

All entries - will be featured in a special journal!

3rd Prize - 2 months' dA subscription

2nd Prize - 4 months' dA subscription

1ST PRIZE - 6 months' dA subscription

Go and create and spread the word! :D

Sponsored by the Bank of RMA-reborn. Further information available on request. Thank you for your time.
